James Acaster: Repertoire Season 2nd trailerĪt the time, presented below video is very precisely to new season of TV series. James Acaster starring James Acaster in the TV show. First time TV Show was released on Netflix media services provider on March 27th, 2018. way too many rape and pedophilia jokes.Īll in all I felt pretty neutral about this special, which is not the emotion comedy usually tries to elicit.James Acaster: Repertoire series is a comedy created by Netflix Originals. He is pretty quick on his feet, some responses to (explicitly asked for) heckles or other audience participation bits were clever and genuinely funny. The funniest bits were where he talked about something that someone else said to him or he overheard someone talking about. A handful of the throwaway jokes (A nurse takes a rectal thermometer out her breast pocket and thinks: “some asshole has my pen”) I’m sure I have seen around the internet before. There is no through line, so the show is a sequence of short, completely unrelated jokes, with the occasional anecdote and audience participation bit thrown in. I have personally never found the type of joke that relies on a “ all men/women/whatever group of people are just like this” type setups really works. A lot of his jokes rely on shock value or stereotypes and generalizations. I think the occasional edgy joke can be funny, these were just not. Humor is subjective, and several times throughout the show he acknowledges that his show might not be for everyone. ![]() James Acaster repertoire reset part 3 stand up review comedy humor On the other hand it’s sort of an opportunity to gush about how much I like his humor and how good it is, go watch it. On one hand I’m regretting the choice to make this 4 separate reviews, because I don’t feel like I have much to add beyond “he’s really funny, you should watch it”. I don’t know what to tell you, he’s got great attention to detail.I feel like I need to add something here, but the jokes are funny and they all land.Subtle allusion to part 1, you really get rewarded for paying attention. The he or she bit is relatable on a level I cannot comprehend.I think this might be my favourite episode in repertoire so far. Though I don’t think the opinion he expresses is very controversial, it’s still wrapped in a series of good jokes. We take a bit of a detour in this episode, away from the personal jokes (fictional or not), into some spicy commentary on the British empire. Reset is yellow, which ties in nicely with the honey bit. I don’t think I’ve even mentioned the aesthetic cohesiveness of the whole thing! Every episode gets its own color - that means a backdrop, occasional lighting and Acasters outfit (down to the shoelaces). ![]() The idea is kind of self-explanatory, but hereby I welcome you all to partake in this journey with me.
